In order for a college student to receive scholarships, grants, or any aid, parents MUST register on the Free Application For Financial Aid (FAFSA) website. This is a central data base that all colleges and universities can access in order to make monetary awards.
Please note that each state has a different deadline for final submission to be considered for "prime" scholarship and grant monies.
You CANNOT register in Oklahoma until January 1. This is when our colleges and universities begin looking though applicants.
The deadline is April 15; however, most schools will make a determination of monies to be distributed between Feb. 1 and Mar. 15 so the sooner you can register after January 1, the better off you will be.
Please consider filing your IRS 1040 early. The information you provide will be based off of last year's tax return.
